The Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency was formed in May of 1985 under the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Act. As a requirement of the regulations, all producers of sheep and/or wool in Ontario are required to register with the Agency.

OSMA has three (3) regulations that govern it.
- Farm Products Marketing Commission Regulation 429
This regulation governs OSMA’s involvement with Sheep
- Farm Products Marketing Commission Regulation 430
The regulation governs OSMA’s involvement with the Marketing of Sheep and Wool
- Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency Regulation 1
This regulation governs meat and wool. Regulation 1 has now replaced Regulation 1 - sheep & Regulation 2 - wool. It was approved by the Board of Directors on July 6, 2011. License fees are $1.80 per head plus 13% HST effective as of Dec. 1, 2010.
