Ontario Sheep Farmers (formerly the Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency or OSMA) was formed in May 1985 under the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Act. As a requirement of the regulations, all producers of sheep and/or wool in Ontario are required to register with Ontario Sheep Farmers.

Ontario Sheep Farmers has three (3) regulations that the organization is governed by.

This regulation governs Ontario Sheep Farmers’ involvement with sheep. - Farm Products Marketing Commission Regulation 430
This regulation governs Ontario Sheep Farmers’ involvement with the marketing of sheep and wool. - Ontario Sheep Farmers General Regulation
The General Regulation defines the Ontario marketplace entities, their responsibilities, and the processes to report sales and licence fees due.
