The Scrapie Flock Certification Program (SFCP) underwent significant updates by the CFIA this year in an effort to bolster disease prevention and certification accuracy. Effective June 30, 2024, the program now includes enhanced protocols, such as requiring males to be sourced from farms with equivalent or higher SFCP status and updated procedures for live animal testing, sampling, and reporting. These changes are meant to ensure producers can continue to meet global standards for disease management while maintaining the program's integrity.
